Here is the text for Michael Dell's anthem:
Loving God, whose grace embraces your creations' widest bounds,
The service included readings and reflections on
Brighten all earth's darkest places, silence terror's frightening sounds;
Bring new vision to your people, make us instruments of peace;
Make our lives a tow'ring steeple, loving, living without cease.
Weeping God, whose heart is breaking for a would in disarray,
Move us toward a new awakening, to a hopeful bright new day.
When the weapons of destruction lose their power to do us ill,
Giving way to mass production of new tools to do you will.
Knowing God, whose depth surpasses truth from scholars' brightest minds,
Break down walls of social classes; rid the prejudice that blinds;
May uncommon sense yet find us while there's opportunity;
Blessed be the ties that bind us in a world community.
Healing God, whose holy presence brings rich comfort to the soul,
Through you spirit, by you essence, make our wounded spirits whole;
Even when our hearts are reeling, speak through us that we may be
Loving, weeping, knowing, healing, by your truth that sets us free!
The service closed with the congregation leaving the Cathedral in a candlelight
procession, while singing "O God, our help in ages past".
